Origin of the Scottish Fold

The Scottish Fold, originally from Scotland, is a breed from the Scottish, Highland breed group. This is made up of the 4 breeds Highland fold, Highland straight, Scottish fold and Scottish straight.

Of medioline type, stocky, robust, this cat is all in roundness. Weight: 2.5 to 6 kg.

Eye color should match the coat, as intense and bright as possible.

This particularly peaceful, non-dominant cat is sociable with other cats and dogs. Sweet, very affectionate, cuddly and very playful, he loves family life. Discreet, his voice is soft. Vigorous and resistant, this cat turns out to be an excellent hunter. For its maintenance, a weekly brushing is necessary. During the moult, its fluffy coat will be combed regularly. It is prudent to watch the ears. The Scottish Fold is crossed with erect-eared cats such as the British Shorthair or the American Shorthair. The character "folded ears" is only visible from the 3rd or 4th week and the degree of folding is not observable until the 5th or 6th week.

Scottish Fold Health

Fold x Fold marriages are prohibited, in order to avoid the risk of skeletal abnormalities (no mating of two cats with folded ears)
